I had the plans of my latest update on
My Southern Charms site being an HD video I just shot, "Pink Fuzzy Shorts Strip". Sadly, it does not look like this is going to happen, and I wanted to explain to those of you who are unaware of the strict rules on SC why most models don't offer videos in their member's areas. The following are rules that are a direct cause of my inability to post the current video update:
1) all videos must be clipped into 2mb or less segments. Yes, that means like 15 or 30 seconds at best on low quality, so HD is out of the question.
2) there's a max of 10 segments per update, which would lead to only a max of 20mb per update, which would hardly handle even a low quality 1 or 2 minute video.
3) we're not allowed to use music in our videos, so the fact that I was stripping to Otep means either I clip out the audio and dance around like a moron in silence, or I just can't use the video there, and continue only doing video updates on my other sites like I have been.
I don't know about YOU guys, but if *I* were a member of SC, I wouldn't want to download 10 2mb 15 second video clips in a member's area. *I* would want a reasonable video size, like those offered on the paid video section. Yep, that's right. There's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REQUIREMENTS for the Video Sales section. For the video sales section, we're flat out told first thing, "Videos must be of high quality." They even go so far as to stipulate that "Videos must be in the WMV format encoded at 1 Mbps or better." and that there's a minimum runtime of 5 minutes.
So if that's what they demand for videos you pay your hard earned money for, why can't that be what you can expect as a paying member of Southern Charms? Shouldn't it be up to the model whether the videos are in 2mb segments or full clips? Personally if it were up to me, I'd upload a variety of sizes and file types, so there's a download for anyone, regardless of their download speed.
Forgive my rant here, but the first time I said anything about this crazy 2mb rule, I was told that it had been agreed upon because it was what was easiest for member's to download, but since then they've started the SC Videos section, which now makes the first reason make no sense, because they wouldn't do individual video sales if the members couldn't download the 1kbps+ files.
